Opening your mission call

I vividly remember the strong emotions I felt when I opened my mission call. I remember the impact  I felt when I read the words "Elder Rockwood, you are hereby called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." The Spirit was very strong, and so were my feelings of excitement, nerves, and anticipation. I remember the sweet feeling when I read the words "Dominican Republic, Santiago Mission." Soon, you will be having that same moment in your own life. Live your life in such a way that the Lord can use you like a sharp tool to do his work and represent his will. Enjoy the video below. It captures very well the atmosphere of that powerful moment.

That moment when you read your call marks the beginning of your ministry and the beginning of a lifelong love of the people and the region where you are assigned to labor. Just like the prophets of old, you will represent the Savior, teach what he taught, love (in a smaller way) as he loved, and participate in the great work of redeeming Israel and the greater work of bringing joy and the door of exaltation to your brothers and sisters. Don't let anything stand in your way!

-Brother Rockwood
